We looked at popular entrees (as opposed to sides, like fries, or dessert options) at five favorite fast food chains. Here are the results.

The classic Whopper Jr. features a beef patty topped with tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup, pickles, and white onions on a sesame seed bun. With cheese, the burger contains 40 mg of cholesterol, but without it contains just 25 mg.

KFC Famous Bowl

The famous bowl contains mashed potatoes, sweet corn, drizzles of gravy, and bite-sized pieces of crispy chicken. It contains 50 mg of cholesterol, and can also be enjoyed in a snack size containing 25 mg of cholesterol.

KFC Extra Crispy Tender

One chicken tender contains just 30 mg of cholesterol. If you’re trying to lower your cholesterol intake, stick to two tenders and pair them with a side of cholesterol-free potato wedges.

KFC Macaroni and Cheese

A simple way to avoid cholesterol at fast food chains is by going vegetarian! KFC macaroni and cheese is a low-cholesterol option, weighing in at just 10 mg. It’s still a carb-heavy choice, so be sure to remember portion control.

McDonald’s Barbecue Ranch Burger

If you’re worried about your cholesterol, it’s best, with rare exceptions, to steer clear of red meat. For the occasional splurge, the Barbecue Ranch Burger isn't all that bad. The burger, which is topped with white cheddar, barbecue ranch sauce, and tortilla strips, contains 45 mg of cholesterol.

The McChicken consists of a crispy chicken patty, topped with mayonnaise and lettuce on a toasted bun. The sandwich contains 40 mg of cholesterol. If you're looking to lower your cholesterol intake, substitute mustard or ketchup for the mayonnaise.

McDonald’s Southern Style Chicken Biscuit

In this fast food version of a Southern classic, crispy white meat chicken breast is served inside a warm buttermilk biscuit. With just 35 mg of cholesterol, it’s a great option for those monitoring their LDL.

Taco Bell Steak Burrito Supreme

Wendy’s Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe

The Junior Cheeseburger Deluxe is topped with cheese, pickles, onions, tomatoes, and lettuce. It contains 55 mg of cholesterol. For a healthier option, cut out the cheese. Doing so will eliminate approximately half of the cholesterol.
